Overview

Overview:

Global Citizen Year is for bold high school grads who are hungry to make a real impact, and to make college count. Each year we select a class of talented high school seniors as Fellows and provide them with the opportunity to live and work in Brazil, Ecuador, India or Senegal during a gap year abroad before college.

The tests. The grades. The treadmill. Over 2 million students in the U.S. go straight to college each year – for more of the same. What can you learn when you close the textbook and make the world your classroom? A new passion? A foreign language? A global perspective? Explore how our gap year program offers this and so much more.

Spud’s Thoughts:

I work a lot with college students who are hungry to make a change. And the more time that goes on, the more I wish folks would take a gap year after high school. It provides so much insight and chance to simply explore without feeling the need to jump into a box or follow a prescribed path that college often insists upon. If you are a rising senior in high school (or a parent of one), please strongly consider this options. There’s lots of programs out there that can help you – this is just one I’m familiar with as I met the founder a few years ago and was really impressed with her vision.
