Overview

Overview:

Young people everywhere should have opportunity to discover their potential and build the skills they need to change their lives and world. We exist to make that dream a reality, and we’re starting in American high schools.

With young people and educators across the country, we have designed a model through which students can discover their potential and build the skills to change the world before they graduate high school. It all starts with a new role in society: the Dream Director.

The Dream Director is part social entrepreneur, part community organizer, and part transformative coach. Dream Directors guide students and school communities through The Dreamer’s Journey—the process of discovering a dream that lights you on fire and building a Future Project that brings it to life. Dream Directors are more than just natural leaders. They’re also rigorously trained at our signature Dream Academy in our core methodology for unlocking potential. Our method combines the best scientifically supported techniques from across multiple research domains to build will and skill in students and transform school culture.

What happens when a Dream Director embeds in a school and starts working with students? Four years of field testing our model have demonstrated that a Dream Director can be transformative to both students and their schools. Each year, Dream Directors provide students with thousands of hours of training and coaching. They expose students to dozens of new fields and career paths, and help them build critical skills. In the process, they transform the culture of an entire school, leading to better attendance, increased student engagement, and an improved school environment continues to impact students’ lives after they leave school.

Spud’s Thoughts:

I met the Future Project back in 2012 on a roadtrip across the country studying innovations in education. While in NYC, I had the chance to see their program first-hand and was really inspired. Kids were staying after school to work on passion projects with the help of community mentors and their signature Dream Director. It was awesome to watch!! Since then, I’ve had some friends become Dream Directors and have spoken quite highly about this organization.
