Overview

Overview:

Are you a Black artist, creative or maker considering running an arts institution in the next 2 years? We’ve designed the first program specifically for Black artists, makers and grassroots leaders of color to deepen their capacity to lead arts institutions across our movement. This four-month intensive includes retreats, webinars, coaching and peer learning to help you to become an effective leader.

Your first training and support as an Executive Director shouldn’t be on the job—we’re building a network of leaders of color who will build the infrastructure of the creative movement. We’re excited to support Black artists, makers and creatives to lead and run arts institutions and collectives across the country.

The interactive training includes sessions on shared leadership, management, governance, fundraising, finances, marketing, fundraising, program evaluation, HR, team management and more. This training includes interactive activities, handouts to refer back to, and concrete examples of how these tools can help you succeed as an Executive Director.

As a prospective Executive Director, you’ll face a lot of urgent challenges and questions that you’ve never had to tackle before. It’s easy to become overwhelmed just trying to figure out what questions you should be asking yourself, your staff, your board, and your donors. Expand your peer network and get the perspective you need by joining our inaugural Executive Director Leadership Program.

Spud’s Thoughts:

This is being passed on from a friend – I don’t know much specifically about this org but it seems they do a lot to bring about equity in various sectors. It’s incredibly important that we are creating more spaces for folks of color to plug into the social innovation space, so I’ll be honest – their video got me pretty pumped!
